Harvest FROM THE BEST

Coffee has long been Faven Assefa’s drink of choice, a love that began when she was introduced to the Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony at a young age within her community. Her father, Fisseha Assefa, spent his childhood deeply connected to coffee on a plantation in Welega, Ethiopia. Every morning, he and his friends would gather ripe coffee cherries from the trees, peel them to reveal the beans, and hand them to the women, who would skillfully wash, roast, and brew the coffee. It was more than just a daily routine; it was a communal ritual where friends, family, and neighbors came together to savor buna—the Amharic word for coffee—and share dabo, traditional Ethiopian bread.
